Calvin Loban and Daniella Beepat led San Francique Presbyterian school to victory on Monday as the 15th Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Programme in T&T was officially launched at the Alloy Lequay Administrative Building, National Cricket Centre, Couva.
Loban won the best performing batsman award, while Beepat's ability in the field earned her the best performing fielder. Primary school students from Bamboo Government, Belmont Government, Barrackpore Vedic, Cunaripo Presbyterian, Montrose Vedic and New Grant Government also competed in the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival.
This year, the programme involves 48 schools across the eight school districts. The top schools will participate in the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Interval Display during the West Indies/New Zealand series at the Queen's Park Oval on June 18.
In addition to the Kiddy Cricket Festival, the 2014 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Programme involves a Kiddy Cricket Summer Camp and an academic component, which involves teachers delivering classroom sessions in accordance with the curriculum in Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts and Information Technology (IT). This year the programme will end in November with a closing ceremony recognising the hard work and dedication displayed by the children and teachers.
