The top-ranked local women's beach volleyball duo of Nancy Joseph and Ayana Dyette will resume play on the 2014 Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit when they compete at the fifth-leg stop, in Toluca, Mexico, from Friday until Sunday.
So far this season, Joseph and Dyette have participated in three of the first four stops with a best finish of seventh in Antigua, Guatemala during the third leg from May 7 to 12.
This after Joseph and Dyette, who have a best ever finish of two fourth-placed finishes two years ago, were beaten in their quarterfinal by Cubans, Lianma Flores and Leila Martinez 1321, 1021.
Last weekend, the local pair did not compete in the fourth leg which was also contested at San Pedrito Beach, in Manzanillo, Mexico due to a lack of finances, but will be eager to improve on the 15th-placed finish by Joseph and Pauline Woodroffe in Toluca, last year.
In their other two tournaments so far this season, Joseph and Dyette were 11th in the season opener in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands followed by a 12th placed finish at the second leg held in Guatemala City.
At the tournament, Melissa Humana and Taylor Pischke of Canada-B, defeated Kendra Vanzwieten and Allison Daley, of USA-A, 2118, 1521, 1513 in the final. The Canadians, both 21, had beaten Frida Lpez and Itzel Santoyo of Mxico-D, 2113, 2110 in the semifinals to contend for gold while Vanzwieten and Daley beat USA-B, Heather Hughes and Christal Engle 2117, 2115.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal was for Heather Hughes and Christal Engle of USA 2, who also defeated Santoyo and Lopez, 2114, 2112.
Despite missing out on the fourth-leg tournament in Mexico, Joseph and Dyette remained in good form when they won back-to-back tournaments at Saith Park, Chaguanas for their seventh overall triumph on home soil so far this year.
In their last win on Sunday, Joseph and Dyette overcame Elki Phillip and Woodroffe 2118, 2117 and will be keen to continue their good form in Mexico.
However, the national men's beach volleyball duo of Tevin Joseph and Taran Deonath will not make the journey to Mexico as they are set to depart for Myslowice, Poland on June 8, to compete at the FIVB Under-23 World Championships at the Summer Sports Resort from June 10-15.
Like the women's team, Joseph and Deonath competed in three of four legs on the circuit, to gain some much valuable experience. It was tough going for the T&T boys, as they failed to win any of their matches on the circuit.
