The final of the BG T&T Under-15 two-day Interzone tournament will bowl off today at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, with East facing South-East from 10 am.
This match will also be the last chance for the players to impress the national U-15 selectors. The national team will be selected later this month for the West Indies Cricket Board Regional tournament, which bowls off in July.
In the semifinal round, South-East got past North by 67 runs to book a spot in the final. Cephas Cooper, who has been one of the top batsmen in the tournament led the charge. Cooper struck an unbeaten 81 in the first innings, then made 35 in the second. Opposing bowlers have found it difficult to dismiss Cooper as he has been left unbeaten on many occasions. His scores include 107 not out and 70 not out.
Brandon Singh has also shown some form with the bat for South-East, hitting 75 in round one and 102 in round three.
East will look towards national youth players Kirstan Kallicharan and Nathaniel McDavid to continue the form they showed in the semifinals against Central. McDavid was the best bowler for East grabbing eight wickets in the match. Kallicharan has been piling on the runs this season, scoring 86 and 70 in the 141-run win over Central.
The match will continue tomorrow from 10 am.
