Chin Choy, Mohammed win Sagicor titles

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Cheyenne Chin Choy and Nabeel Mohammed both won titles yesterday at the Sagicor junior tennis tournament at the Nelson Mandela Park (formerly King George V Park), Port-of-Spain.

Chin Choy won the girls Under-16 singles title, defeating Carissa Rudolfo in straight sets 6–1, 6–2.

Mohammed also recorded a comfortable win in the boys singles U-16 final, easing his way to a 6–2, 6–2 victory over Keshan Moonasar.

In the third final of the rainy evening, Yin Lee Assang got past Kristen Marticorena 4–1, 5–3 to make amends for the disappointment last month. Assang lost in the girls singles U-12 final to Victoria Koylass in three sets at the Lease Operators junior tournament at the Trinidad Country Club.

Today the finals in the boys U-16 singles, girls U-14 singles and boys U-14 doubles will be contested.
