Hayley Matthews struck an aggressive unbeaten 127 to give Barbados a convincing 184-run win over the T&T Board XI as action in the 19 & Under T&T Women's Cricket Association Invitational Regional T20 tournament began yesterday at Caldrac cricket ground, California, yesterday.
In the second match of a double-header, Matthews slammed 18 fours and one six off 75 balls to lead Barbados to a massive 216/2. West Indies Women's cricketer Shaquana Quintyne contributed with 66. In reply the Board XI had no answers, as Aaliyah Alleyne took 3/7 to bundle the Board XI out for 32 in 13 overs.
Earlier in the first match, Qunityne scored an unbeaten 75 to guide Barbados to a 21-run win over Guyana.
At Gilbert Park, T&T eased past Guyana by eight wickets as T&T bowler Shanella Townsend snatched four wickets for four runs. Today the T&T Board XI will face St Lucia from 9.30 am at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. The tournament continues everyday until Sunday.
