Early joint-league leader Stag Trinidad Northern will be seeking straight wins when the club tackles Royalians in the T&T Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) Toyota Senior Division's third match day at Enthusiast Ground, Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, from 4.30 pm, today.
Northern sits on five points from a bonus point win (46-7) over Caribs II, last weekend. Despite having completed just one match, Northern is likely to benefit from the abandonment of its opening round fixture against Invictus, by the referee, who was allegedly struck by an object while the match was in progress.
Northern held a lead before the match was called off.
However, while Northern has enjoyed a positive start to the campaign, so has Royalians, which stunned 2012 league and knockout champion Harvard, 20-17, also last weekend. Harvard played its opening match the week prior and secured a win over Caribs' second team.
This year's senior men's competition features ten teams with a combination of clubs from the top two divisions from last year.
The defending champion, Caribs RFC will play its second match tomorrow at home against UWI.
Caribs opened its defence of the league two weeks ago with a 54-5 win over the Forces. The Forces is a combination of players from Defence Force and Police RFC.
Last week, Tobago RFC was scheduled to face Caribs at the Queen's Park Savannah, but as with the previous week, Tobago's match was postponed due to issues booking flights.
Tobago was carded to play Invictus today but that fixture has also been postponed.
