Hosts Super Industrial Services Limited (SIS) suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Yara Sports Club as action continued in the SIS Industrial Football League on Thursday over at the Plipdeco Ground in Point Lisas.
In the process, SIS's hopes of advancing to the quarterfinal stages have taken a huge blow with their chances depending on the outcomes of the remaining group matches.
Adesh Tookhai opened the scoring in the second minute with a powerful strike at SIS goalie Mark Joseph, who tried to parry it but only succeeded in fumbling it into the goal. Joseph's effort left much to be desired and his teammates were clearly disappointed at his conceding such a soft goal.
SIS sank further into trouble when the prolific Jerron Quashie bagged his first on the day with a crisp finish in the top left corner. With the half time interval nearing, Tookhai increased his team's lead when he beat Joseph for the second time with a blistering effort that left the custodian with no chance this time around.
On the resumption, Yara continued where they left off with Quashie tapping home a cross by Larry Ousman in the 22nd minute to inflict more pain on their already suffering opponents. This time around, the defense of SIS was the culprit as they paid the price for poor man marking.
Quashie would complete his hat-trick a few minutes later when a scramble play in the box landed perfectly on his right foot to which he obliged and slammed it home.
However, the play of the day was yet to come when Tookhai also completed his hat-trick with what could only be described as a quality goal.
Defender Keston Davis played a long ball forward to Tookhai who controlled it on his chest while holding off SIS's Lackeshwar Ramroop at the top of the box. A bit off-balance and with the ball escaping his foot, he stretched to place the ball with pin point accuracy past the desperate hands of custodian Joseph to complete a fine individual performance.
His effort combined with Quashie's triple completed a commanding victory against SIS, whose lacklustre performance left the home fans disappointed.
