T&T's Davis Mc Leod placed second in Heat 2 of the Men's 100m backstroke as the Youth Olympic games began in Nanjing, China yesterday.
Mc Leod clocked 58.18 seconds though it was not enough to qualify for the semifinals. McLeod, along with Dylan Carter, will be in action again on Tuesday in the 50m backstroke while Johnya Ferdinand will compete in the 50 m freestyle.
Meanwhile the pair of Malika Davidson and Chelsi Ward were beaten 21-15, 21-7 by Germany's Sarah Schneider and Lisa Arnholdt in Preliminary Pool E of Women's Beach Volleyball. Today they will come up against Indonesia's Nanda Ragilla and Risiki Dwi Andriani while tomorrow they will take on the Congolese pair of PetronieNkoka Ndougou and Ursia Reine Moyipele
Jeminise Parris (100m hurdles), Kasheif King (400m), Akanni Hislop (200m), Chelsea James (shot put) and Andwuelle Wright (long jump) will be looking to make their marks in their respective events when athletics begins on Wednesday.
