Former men's national basketball player Devougn Lamont died last Thursday after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest while training with his club Beaujolais Basket, in Lyon, France. He was 30.Lamont, a former St Benedict's College student, most notably featured in the T&T team which defeated Puerto Rico (then ranked tenth in the world), at the Centrobasket, regional pre-Olympic tournament, held in the Dominican Republic in 2010.
Lamont recently re-signed with Beaujolais Basket to play in the French NM2 league, following a positive campaign last season when he averaged 17 points and 9.33 rebounds per match.
Prior to his arrival in France, Lamont played at San Isidro San Francisco in Argentina where he averaged 11.9 points per match after 30 matches. Lamont's career also included successful stints in Japan, Mexico, Venezuela and the USA .
Before becoming a professional, Lamont had an impressive US collegiate career with Marin Junior College averaging 22 points and 11.3 rebounds per match in the 2003/2004 season.
While at California State University, Monterey Bay, he averaged 17.8 points and seven rebounds per match between 2004-2006.
