Merry Boys spin bowler Aneil Kanhai won the club cricketer of the year award at the T&T Cricket Board 58th Annual Presentation Function for premiership and championship division clubs at the Couva/Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce on Saturday.
Kanhai led Merry Boys to the national Two-Day league title for the first time in more than ten years. The Diego Martin based club also won the club of the year award.
The other club cricketers of the year included three Guyanese cricketers Ryan Ramdass (FC Clarke Road), Selvin Jacobs (Seenath's Auto Bamboo) and Royston Crandon (Caldrac). Left-arm spin bowler Akeal Hosein (Queen's Park) was also rewarded as one of the five cricketers of the year. He was also part of the Barbados Tridents team which won the Caribbean Premier League last month. The Tridents are currently taking part in the Champions League T20 tournament in India.
In the championship division, Deon Ferrier of Aranguez won the cricketer of the year. Ferrier led Aranguez to the T20 and 50-over titles.
The other cricketers of the year in the championship division included Kamesh Yadram (Rousillac), Narendra Bridgelal (Prisons), Eon Hooper (Calcutta) and Krishna Ramoo (Victoria).
