T&T's Ayana Dyette and Nancy Joseph finished tenth when the eighth leg of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit ended at the Central American Stadium in Boqueron, Puerto Rico, yesterday.
The top local duo was beaten by Mexico-B duo, Stephanie Burnside and Gloria Santoyo 14-21, 10-21 in their final round-robin Pool A match.
With the loss, Dyette and Joseph ended with a 1-2 record for third spot after they won their opener against Hondurans, Christianne Etches/Marissa Brady, but were beaten by USA's Sarah Hughes/Kelly Claes on Friday.
Hughes and Claes topped the pool with a 3-0 record after breezing past Brady and Etches 21-11, 21-6.
This was the first tournament for the local women since the fifth leg in Mexico in June after which they missed the sixth and seventh legs in North Bay, Canada (July 9-14) and Varadero, Cuba (August 20-25).
The best finish so far the T&T women was seventh at the third leg in Guatemala while they ended 12th in the second leg also held in Guatemala; 11th in Cayman Islands (first-leg), and 12th in the fifth leg held in Mexico in June.
In Pool B which consisted of five teams, the trio of USA-B's Irene Hester/Caitlin Ledoux, Canada-A's Victoria Altomare/Julie Gordon and the FIVB Best Defensive team in Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics Puerto Rican Valeria Cajigas/Lina Bernier all ended with a 3-1 record to advance to the quarterfinals.
And in Pool C, Mexico-A, Martha Revuelta/Bibiana Candelas topped the five-team field with a 4-0 mark and was joined in the last-eight by second and third placed teams, Canada-B, Kacie Mac Tavish/Caleigh Whitaker (3-1) and Costa Rica-A, Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro (2-2). (NS)
