National junior player Jada Renales won four titles when the T&T Badminton Association hosted its annual Junior Solo Badminton Open Championships at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena on Saturday and Sunday.
Renales, who recently represented T&T at the Pan American Sports Festival in Mexico, won the girls Under-16 singles, mixed doubles U-16, mixed doubles U-18 and the girls doubles U-16 title.
The Shuttle Force player defeated Brittney Mohammed in the final of the girls U-16 singles. After cruising to a 21-11 win in the first set, Renales was forced to dig deep in the second set but prevailed 22-20.
Renales paired up with Renaldo Sinanan, Will Lee and Ralista Wong respectively to win the mixed doubles U-16, mixed doubles U-18 and the girls doubles U-16 titles.
Lee (Shuttle Force) and Ananda Ramsingh (Central Badminton Academy and Club-CBAC) showed top form on the day capturing three titles each. Lee, who was also part of the Pan American Sports Festival T&T team, won the boys doubles U-18 with Adrian Nicholson, the boys singles U-18 and the mixed doubles U-18 with Renales.
Ramsingh took home the girls singles U-14 title, the girls doubles U-14 with Sandhya Cassie and joined forces with Leon Cassie to win the mixed doubles U-14 crown.
