Action in the much anticipated Tobago International Cycling Classic (TICC) will pedal off with the Shirvan/Carnbee/Buccoo Circuit Race this afternoon in Tobago, from 1.30 pm.
Riders in today's stage one event will compete in either division one or division two.
In division one the competitors' endurance will be tested in the ten-lap 120km trek, while division two cyclists will attempt five laps (60km).
Prior to the race, an opening ceremony will take place from 9 am at the Cycling Village Compound in Crown Point. All teams and cyclists are encouraged to attend.
Following the ceremony a race technical briefing will be conducted by the race director and T&T Cycling Federation officials at 10.30 am also at the Cycling Village.
Cyclists from T&T, the Caribbean and the world are carded to participate in the five-stage cycling classic which ends on Sunday with the main event.
Riders from Germany, Austria, Canada, USA, Colombia, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent and Antigua among many more are carded to compete.
Some of the top local riders expected to participate are Gevan Samuel, Jovian Gomez, Adam Alexander and Varun Maharajh.
