Incycle Predator was the top club in stage one of the Tobago International Cycling Classic as American rider Winston David and veteran national cyclist Emile Abraham won gold and bronze, respectively, in the Shirvan/Carnbee/Buccoo circuit race, yesterday.Finishing behind David was Patrik Meron of Sweden. The Predator pair showed endurance in the 120km race which started and ended at Shirvan Road. After the race Abraham was satisfied with the team's effort in stage one.
Abraham said: "The team came out riding good team work, I have a really strong team, I am riding pretty good." Abraham anticipates a challenging race in today's second stage. "Tomorrow (today) is a really hard stage, but the other two are sprinting days, with me being third overall, it puts me in a good position to win the tour."David, who won in 2.31:48.399, stated: "I am really excited and really happy to get this win because Emile (Abraham) is from here (T&T) and he brought me here and it is great to get a win for his team."
The winner said the weather was challenging. "It is really hot out, but it has been hot where I am from, South Carolina, so I have been pretty accustom to the heat."Today's stage two event will be a 100km race from 8.30 am starting and ending at Turtle Beach.
