Dragon Boat racing took over the shores of St Peters Bay, Chaguaramas last weekend for the Chinese Bicentennial Limited Dragon Boat Festival 2014.
The event marks the final regatta for the season. The two-day event fielded participants from both junior and senior teams nationwide.
Queen's Royal College Magnum proved to be a dominant force once again in the Junior Open Small category capturing first place in 47:08 seconds. Three-year-old "baby" to dragon boating, South East P.O.S. Secondary (SEPOS) continued to climb the charts attaining second place in 51:1. Trinity Won Ton WA captured third place with 51:7.
Bishops Anstey High School Red Zone edged the rest of the field in the Female Junior Small category in a time of 53:3. St Francois Girls College Orcas and St Joseph Convent Wave Breakers finishing in times of 53:4 and 53:7 respectively to earn silver and bronze.
SEPOS were outdone by the combined effort of St Joseph Convent/ Trinity in the junior mixed standard category. Bishops both teams, Sledgehammer and Katana, ran away with 1st and 2nd place honours in the Juniors Female Standard category.
Schools have a short off-season to prepare before action resumes in April with the High Sierra Schools Dragon Boat Regatta.
