St Anthony's College took an early lead in the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Premier Division competition, yesterday, with a 3-0 win over San Juan North.At St Mary's College Ground, Serpentine Road, leading scorer for the "Tigers", Kwesi Allen scored the opener in time added on in the first half. St Anthony's then doubled and tripled its advantage after substitutes Shem Clauzel and Andrew Rullow bagged insurance goals in the 76th and 79th minutes, respectively.
With the win, St Anthony's took top spot in the round-robin competition on goal difference, just over Naparima College which secured a 2-0 opening win over San Juan North.Naparima, recent Premier Division inaugural champion school, scored early and late in the second half. Shane Sandy and Akinola Gregory bagged the goals.The second round of matches will take place on Wednesday. Speyside Secondary will host Naparima College in Roxborough, Tobago, from 4.30 pm in the late contest, after St Anthony's and San Juan North kick off in Westmoorings at 3.45 pm.
The third round will take place on Saturday. The winner of the four-team standings after three matches will be crowned the Big-four champion.
