?Kerian Quan Chee clinched two titles on the closing night of the T&T Badminton Association annual doubles open/masters tournament at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas, on Wednesday night.
In the mixed doubles final, the second-ranked pair of Quan Chee and Alistair Espinoza joined forces to defeat top-ranked duo Nekeisha Blake and Kerwyn Pantin in three sets.
Espinoza and Quan Chee drew first blood winning the first set 21-14, but Blake and Pantin fought back to win a tight second set 21-19.
In the third and final set Espinoza and Quan Chee prevailed 21-15.
Quan Chee also paired up with Jada Renales to capture the women's doubles title against Blake and Leanna Castanada. After losing the first set 12-21, Quan Chee and Renales showed resilience to win the next two sets 22-20, 21-14.
Justin Siu and Rahul Rampersad created another upset, outlasting top-ranked Pantin and Espinoza in three sets 21-15, 22-24, 21-18 to win the men's doubles final.
Siu and Rampersad defeated second-ranked Milind Ogale and Anil Seepaul in the semifinals. Derek Singh and Andre Lewis continued their dominance in the masters doubles, winning the four-team round robin category without dropping a set. It was the pair's sixth consecutive crown.
