National golfer Joshua Galt performed admirably recently at the Samsung Open PGA Tour Latin America event in Lima, Peru, placing 29th overall.Galt tied for 29th overall with Angel Cabrera Junior, son of legendary Argentine golfer Angel Cabrera who has won several times on the PGA Tour as well as three majors.Galt's effort was outstanding, as he competed alongside players from all over the world including Britain, Canada, USA, and most South and Central American countries.
The T&T golfer earned US $550 for his efforts but the real victory was making the cut and playing all four days amongst such world class players all striving to play on the biggest stage in world golf.
Galt also played in a qualifier for the PGA Tour Latin America Peru Open which is a televised event over four days in Lima. Unfortunately out of a total of 60 players attempting to qualify for the event, only the top 12 qualified and Galt placed tied 13th, one shot over the qualifying number of 73.
Galt is now back at his base in Orlando, Florida, and is already back on the golf course preparing for a few minor tour events throughout Florida. Galt's father Nigel is hoping his son will get more financial assistance to continue flying the T&T flag. The national golfer experiences hardships on a daily basis but his dream is to play at the top level in golf and he wants to continue playing to reach his goals.Veteran golfer Stephen Ames is one of Galt's biggest fans and Ames is the main reason he continues to play.
