Brittany Joseph added two more titles when the Solo National Table-Tennis Championship continued with the Doubles competition at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas on Saturday.
Joseph, who won the Under-18 girls singles crown the weekend before at the same venue paired with Linda Partap-Boodhan to take the Women's Doubles and also combined with Anson Wellington for gold in Mixed Doubles category.
In the Women Doubles decider, Joseph and Partap-Boodhan of Arima Hawks brushed aside Merle Bagoo/Natalie Montes (Hawks) 11-9, 11-9, 11-9.
This after Partap-Boodhan and Joseph stopped Danielle Dick and Nalini Boodoo 11-1, 8-11, 11-4, 11-5 in the semifinal while Bagoo and Montes defeated University of T&T (UTT) duo, Aleena Edwards and Jamilia Alexander 11-9, 11-9, 11-2.
The Mixed Doubles final was more of a battle for Joseph and Wellington, but they managed to prevail 11-5, 11-8, 13-11, 8-11, 11-5 over Arun Roopnarine and Edwards.
In the semis, Wellington and Joseph beat their clubmates Mark Modeste and Partap-Boodhan 12-10, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8, 11-4 while Roopnarine and Edwards stopped Lionel Darceuil and Natalie Montes of Hawks 11-9, 11-7, 11-9.
Earlier on in the quarterfinals, Wellington and Joseph beat Andrew Alexander and Merle Baggoo 11-4, 11-5, 11-9; Roopnarine/Edwards dumped Joshua Maxwell/Nalini Boodoo (Blasters) 11-2, 11-8, 11-4; Modeste/Partap-Boodhan ousted Alaric Humphreys/Jamilia Alexander (UTT) 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 and Darceuil/Montes rallied past Sarvesh Mungal/Shannon Watson 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5.
The Men's Doubles final saw the Roopnarine/Humphreys UTT pair overcoming Sarvesh Mungal and his cousin Amresh Mungal of PowerGen, 11-5, 11-5, 7-11, 11-4.
Roopnarine/Humphreys reached the final via their win over Modeste/Dave Williams of Hawks 11-6, 2-11, 11-5, 11-8 while the Mungals outlasted Everton Sorzano and Declan John of D'Abadie Youths, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-8.
And in the quarterfinals, Roopnarine/Humphreys beat Andrew Alexander/Kwame Laurence of Solo Crusaders 11-9, 11-5, 11-8; Modeste/Williams battled past Aaron Edwards and Yuraaj Dookram 8-11, 11-9, 11-13, 11-7, 11-4; Everton Sorzano/Declan John (D'Abadie) came from behind to beat Andrew Edwards/Kyle Bennettn (Gladiators) 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 12-10, and the Mungals beat Wellington/ Darceuil 11-5, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8.
The Veterans Singles final was also contested, with Anthony Laquis of Oxford defeating Franklyn Seechan of Guaya Dream Team for the crown, 11-9, 12-10, 11-6, 11-9.
Laquis won his final four clash with Petrotrin's Hozare Gopaul 11-5, 11-9, 11-3 and Seechan beat Clinton Cardinal also of Petrotrin 11-3, 11-6, 11-4.
In the last-eight, Seechan dumped Michael Noel 11-4, 11-3, 11-5; Cardinal ousted Faiz Mohammed 3-11, 11-3, 11-7, 13-11; Laquis whipped Vinoo Maraj 11-3, 11-3, 9-11, 11-5 and Gopaul spanked Carlisle Cleveland 11-5, 11-5, 11-7.
The tournament continues on November 29 with the Inter-Team competition at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua while the men and women singles serve off on November 30 at Tacarigua as well, and ends on December 3, at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas.
