Local puglist Michael Alexander earned a bronze medal in the men's 60kg lightweight boxing competition after he defaulted his semifinal bout with home-town fighter Mexican Lindolfo Delgado on Wednesday at the Hiberto Jara Athletic Stadium, Veracruz, Mexico, last night to follow up on his bronze won at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year in Glasgow, Scotland.

At the Omega Complex, in round-of-16 doubles play, Jada Renales and Kerian Quan Chee were ousted by Guatemala's Nikte Sotomayor and Beatriz Ramos 9-21, 9-21 in the women's division while Kerwyn Pantin and Alistair Espinoza also bowed out, 16-21, 16-21 against Dominican Republic's Alberto Rapozo and Nelsol Javier at the same hurdle.
And today in Mixed Doubles, Renales paired with Lee in a round-of-16 loss to Mexicans Job Castillo and Sabrina Solis, 8-21, 8-21 while Quan Chee teame up with Alistair Espinoza in a defeat at the hands of Guatemala's Lesvin Marroquin and Beatriz Ramos 14-21, 12-21.

At the Racquet Centre, T&T defeated regional rival Barbados 2-1 in their Men's Pool A Squad Team battle.
Colin Ramasra got T&T off to a good start beating Gavin Cumberbatch 11-6, 11-4, 11-2 but Rhett Cumberbatch drew the Bajans level via his 11-9, 13-11, 11-1 win over T&T's Kale Wilson, before N'Ku Davis won by default from Shawn Simpson. Last night they T&T met Mexico in their second match.
Beach vball women in quarters
T&T's Nancy Joseph and Ayanna Dyette won their first two macthes in their Women's Pool F round-robin series at the Reino Magico to book a quarterfinal spot.
In their opener, Joseph and Dyette had a 21-17, 18-21, 15-8 win over Hondurans Marissa Brady and Christianne Etches, and followed up with a straight beating of Barbadians, Anicia Wood and Shari Matthews 21-19, 21-17 to seal a quarterfinal spot ahead of their pool decider with fellow qualifiers, Mexico's Bibiana Candelas and Martha Revuelta last night.
Also on Wednesday night, Toco-born duo, Fabien Whitfield and Daneil Williams rebounded from their three-set loss to El Salvadoreans David Vargas and Carlos Escobar by beating Jamaicans Ryck Webb-Mc Kenzie and Christopher Walters 21-10, 21-11 in their second match before their
15-21, 9-21 loss Puerto Rico's Roberto Rodriguez and Erick Haddock 9-21, 6-21 to miss the quarterfinals

At the Arena Cordoba, T&T senior men's volleyballers, the Caribbean champions ended bottom of its four-team round-robin Pool A following a 14-25, 15-25, 15-25 loss to Dominican Republic in their final match yesterday ahead of the playoffs.
On Wednesday night, the "Calypso Spikemen" suffered a second straight loss, 10-25, 23-25, 13-25 to Colombia in while Dominican Republic rallied past host Mexico 18-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-21.
And in Pool B, Puerto stopped Bahamas 25-12, 25-15, 25-10 and Cuba battled past Venezuela 30-28, 25-18, 25-19 ahead of the playoffs on Saturday.
Water Polo:
At the Leyes de Reforma Aquatic Centre, T&T water polo tasted defeat for the fourth straight time from as many outings, this time 4-16 to Cuba.
For the Central Americans, Rigel Jimenez netted four times, while Raydel Corales and his brother, Giraldo Corales got hat-tricks and the duo of Ernesto Cisneros and Rudy Despaigne added two each.
Ivey Arroyo and Jose Peralta got a goal each in the win as well while Russell Ferreira netted a treble, and Kieron Emmanuel, the other for T&T.
In their previous matches, T&T was beaten by Puerto Rico (9-16), Colombia (4-16) and Venezuela (5-11) while they faced Mexico last night ahead of today's final round-robin fixture with fellow winless team, Guatemala ahead of tomorrow's playoffs and final.
Lewis sails to second,stays in hunt
T&T Olympian sailor Andrew Lewis had a best finish in eight starts of second spot behind Guatemalan Juan Maegli at Gaviotas Beach to start the day and followed up with a sixth spot in the ninth and penultimate men's Opening Series Race to stay fifth overall with 42 net points.
Ahead of Lewis is Maegli with 11 followed by US Virgin Island's Chris Thompson (15), El Salvadorean Enrique Arathoon (29) and Puerto Rico's Juan Carlos Perdomo (35) with only today's race left.
And in the women's laser radial, Kelly-Ann Arrindell was eighth and ninth to stay eighth on the standing overall with 66 points, and no chance of a medal ahead of today's last event.
