Guaya Dream Team won and then suffered a loss as they climbed to the top of the Championship Division of the National Table Tennis League by the slimmest of margins on Thursday.
First Guaya, led by Franklyn Seechan's wins over Sherdon Pierre (4-11, 11-2, 11-9, 12-10) and Issa Baisden (11-7, 11-7, 11-6) defeated D'Abadie Youths I, 3-1.
Neville Corbin got the other victory for Guaya, 3-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6 over Baisden while Ronald Williams got the only win for D'Abadie, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 against Michael Mc Comie.
However, when Guaya came up against Himalaya Tough Guys, it was the latter who showed their class with a 3-0 blanking.
For Himalaya, Vinoo Maharaj outlasted Seechan 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 13-15, 11-9; Richard Abasali overcame Corbie 11-3, 15-13, 11-8 and Ferdinand Castillo defeated Mc Comie, 11-8, 11-4, 12-10.
With the three points picked up from the two matches, Dream Team carried its points tally to 29 and a 12-5 record, one point ahead of the trio of Arima Hawks, UTT and D'Abdie Youths I, all with 12-4 marks.
Hawks got two wins from Rawle Parsons in its 3-1 whipping of Solo Crusaders, D'Abadie Youths II blanked Central Warriors 3-0 while the latter then got a win by default from Carenage Blasters.
