?World Boxing Council (WBC) women's champion Mikaela Laurens of Sweden has expressed her excitement on coming to T&T to compete for the WBC title on March 28.
It is expected that Laurens' opponent for the world title bout will be Las Vegas-based national boxer Lorissa Rivas. The fight is being staged in honour of former national boxer Giselle Salandy who died in a vehicular accident six years ago.
In a video posted on YouTube, Laurens expressed her excitement leading up to the bout. Laurens stated that she will visit T&T for a warm up fight on February 28. Laurens also said in the video that a Swedish television station will accompany her on the trip, to showcase the beauty of T&T and follow her training. The top boxer is hoping that her trip to T&T will help promote women's boxing and asked the T&T public to attend the fight.
