National icons Brian Lara and Dwight Yorke will square off today to determine the winner of the Brian Lara Celebrity Golf Challenge which teed off at St Andrew's, yesterday.
The event is in aid of the Pearl & Bunty Lara Foundation, and is in its third year.
Yesterday's activities started with a cricket and coaching clinic at the Queen's Park Oval (SEE PAGE 64). The celebrities then took to the greens at Moka for the Celebrity Golf Challenge where Lara cruised past Sir Gary Sobers, and into today's final against Yorke, who beat Gordon Greenidge on the way to the final.
Today's final will be at 10 am for the Brian Lara Golf Challenge Cup, which Lara won for the past two years.
The day will also see international pro Ian Woosnam teeing off against local pro Anthony Gill in the pro tournament division.
Lara paid tribute to all the sponsors and participants. "It is again an honour to have the Pearl & Bunty Lara Foundation host this tournament. It is a major fundraiser for the Foundation which was established on January 27, 2002, in my beloved parents' memory with the objective to provide comfort, care, protection and guidance to the ailing and disadvantaged. Having these sports legends take time to support the foundation and our initiatives is special and priceless to me and my family!"
