After a top bowling performance from T&T in the first session, Carlos Brathwaite ensured Barbados had the upperhand at the end of day two after another disappointing batting effort by T&T in the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Starting the day on 246/4 in the first innings, Barbados lost six wickets for 29 runs as it was bowled out for 275. T&T was then dismissed for 218, before Barbados closed the day on 15/0 in the second innings.
Fast bowler Brathwaite, who was on the recently concluded West Indies tour of South Africa, grabbed 4/50 in 13 overs to give the Barbadians a 57-run lead on first innings.
Many of the T&T batsmen got starts, but they failed to convert them into significant scores. Evin Lewis (43), captain Jason Mohammed (32), Jeremy Solozano (30), Akeal Hosein (25) and Steven Katwaroo (22) all spent time at the crease, but could not get to 50. Roston Chase also limited the T&T score, taking 3/14.
Earlier, the Bajans had a nightmare morning session. Chase and wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich were both eyeing hundreds at the start of play with Chase on 85 and Dowrich on 83. After Barbados brought up the 250, fast bowler Shannon Gabriel picked up the first wicket of the morning when he dismissed Chase with no addition to his overnight score.
The wickets continued to fall quickly as the home team was all out for 275. Dowrich top scored with 92, while leg spinner Imran Khan ended with 4/65 and Gabriel took 3/40.
All matches continue today from 10 am.
