With defending Digicel T&T Pro League champions and second placed DirecTV W Connection on a bye, current leaders' Central FC will have a chance to extend its two points lead at the top today ahead of their showdown on Friday.
The Zoran Vranes-coached Central FC which leads the table going into the start of Round Three with 35 points from 16 matches comes up against cellar-placed St Ann's Rangers at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya from 6pm.
The "Couva Sharks" as Central FC are known are coming off a 7-0 SKHY FC in the T&T Football Association FA round-of-16 on Sunday and will be fancied to add to its 7-0 and 4-1 victories from their first two league meetings this season.
So far this season, Central FC has won the First Citizens Cup, the Rawle Fletcher (Round One) Trophy and Akeem Adams (Round Two) trophies, however, Vranes stressed there was still a long tough road ahead as the club seeks to achieve its ambition of winning the Digicel Pro League title.
"It's still a long way to go, but I think once we don't make mistakes, we are good enough to win the championship."
Two hours later at the same venue, third and fourth placed clubs, Defence Force (26 pts) and Japs North East Stars (23) clash.
The "Teteron Boys" won their previous league duels so far, both by 1-0 margins, but are coming off a 17-1 mauling of Black Rock FC in the FA round-of-16 led by a five-goal outing from Richard Roy as well as hat-tricks from Akeem Roach and Josimar Belgrave and should be confident of another win over Stars, which squeezed past Caledonia 1-0 in its FA match.
Down at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, two teams coming off penalty-kicks FA wins on Sunday night, sixth placed Play Whe San Juan Jabloteh (23 pts) and Police, four points behind in eighth, meet from 6pm with both still looking for a first win over the other in league play this season, following 0-0 and 2-2 deadlocks.
It will be followed by a match-up of two clubs nursing FA Trophy exits, Caledonia AIA and Pt Fortin Civic from 8 pm. In their two encounters to date in the league, Caledonia won 2-1, but Pt Fortin Civici earned a 6-2 triumph the second time out.
