National junior squash player Alexandria Yearwood won both the girls Under-19 and Under-17 categories at a Junior Squash Preparation tournament at the Cascadia Squash Courts, St Ann's, which was played from Thursday to Saturday.
Yearwood was perfect on her way to winning both divisions, which were played in a round robin format. In the girls U-19 division, Yearwood won all four of her matches against Marie Claire Barcant, Faith Gillezeau, Jaime Edghill and Gabby Scott. Yearwood won all her matches in straight sets, except for her match against Gillezeau which went the full distance of five sets.
Yearwood was even more dominant in the girls U-17 division, winning all her matches in straight sets over Barcant, Scott and Jinan Al-Rawi. Also winning titles at the tournament were Chad Salandy (boys U-19), Nicholas Caddle (boys U-17), Kobie Khan (boys U-15), Christopher Anthony (boys U-13) and Al-Rawi (girls U-13). The next junior tournament is scheduled for May, as the team continues to train for the Caribbean Championships in Barbados in July.
