He retired from Test cricket last year and many thought it was too soon but Dwayne Bravo is likely to make an about turn and make himself available for Test cricket again.
Sources close to the all-rounder said he is showing an interest into coming back into Test cricket under the new coach Phil Simmons. "Dwayne made a call on his Test career at a difficult time but has since realised that there is still a place in Test cricket for him and under the new coach, he is likely to make a turn and make himself available."
The source added that this call from Bravo is likely to come soon, as he looks to get back into "whites" where he has a decent record as an all-rounder.
"People are saying that the West Indies team needs a fifth bowler and that by having Jason Holder on the team, the balance is not right. However, having Jason Holder there, opens the team for a return for Bravo because you can now sacrifice a batsman and bring in Bravo who together with Holder will give you runs and be able to take wickets."
Bravo has played 40 Test matches, scored 2,200 runs at an average of 31.42 with three centuries, 13 half centuries and a best score of 113. In the bowling department he has taken 86 wickets at 39.93 with a best of 6/55. Bravo was recently removed as captain of the West Indies ODI team and replaced by Holder. This came after he led a walkout of the tour of India last year, after a payment structure dispute with the WICB and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) reared its head.
He was, however, chosen for the West Indies T20 team for their tour of South Africa in January and is currently performing well for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India.
When he returns he will start preparations to lead the T&T Red Steel in the upcoming third edition of the Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament.
