Glenora Sports Club will come up against Sweet Revenge Sports Club in the final of the Toyota sponsored North Zonal Council T&T Cricket Board T20 competition later this month.
Both teams qualified for the $20,000 first prize final after winning their semifinal matches on Sunday, at the Queen's Park Savannah.
In the first semi final played at the Sweet Revenge Ground, Glenora disposed of arch rivals Invincible by 46 runs. Invincible won the toss and asked Glenora to have first strike. Led by a stroke filled innings of 42 not out by Andy Alexander and assisted by Reshawn Thomas (36), Glenora got to 147/2 in 17 overs when the allotted time ran out.
Invincible in their reply never got above the required run rate and were eventually left on 109/9 in their 17 overs, handing Glenora a spot in the final. Shane Ricketts top scored for Invincible with 31, while national youth player Emilo Gopaul was the main destroyer for Glenora claiming 4/19 off his four overs.
In the second semifinal played at Glenora Sports Club Ground, Sweet Revenge proved too experienced for the Fatima College outfit, outplaying the young cricketers in all aspects of the game.
Sweet Revenge won the toss and inserted Fatima who managed a modest 116/8 in their 20 overs. Sean Persaud (26) and Michael Gonzales (22) were the top scorers for the college team. Trevon Simpson (2/12) and Shone DeSousa (2/22) had the best bowling figures for Sweet Revenge. DeSousa then led the batting with an unbeaten 30, while Sheldon Thomas chipped in with 23 to ensure the victory, Sweet Revenge getting to 118/3 in 17 overs.
