T&T Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo says that it is early days yet and there is no need to panic concerning his team's fortunes in the current 2015 Hero CPL T20 tournament.
T&T Red Steel went under to the leaders Barbados Tridents by eight wickets in their second match of the tournament on Thursday night at Kensington Oval in Barbados. This follows their washout encounter against the St Lucia Zouks last Sunday in St Lucia.
Bravo, speaking to T&T Guardian said: "In this tournament it is about peaking at the right time and currently yes we are not playing as we should but it is early days and there is no need to panic at this point.'
Winning the toss and batting first against the Barbados Tridents, Bravo's men slipped to four wickets for three runs and from this point all they could muster was 95 for nine off their 20 overs with the captain himself top scoring with 30. Barbados knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets with six overs to spare.
"Winning the toss and batting was the right thing to do there. The stats would show that seven out of ten times the team batting first, wins the match at Kensington Oval. It just did not work out for us because of the soft dismissals at the top of the order.
"However, it is just one game that the guys have batted out there and we can't judge much from that. We have to have patience with some of the men who are playing here for the first time and look to continue working to get better in every department."
He said as the tournament goes along he would settle on a position in which he should bat. Coming in at number seven he looked in good form and scored 30 from just 26 balls. "I may move up the order but as I said before it is early days and right now we just need to be a little patient."
The T&T Red Steel flew out of Barbados at 5 pm yesterday evening and will spend the next seven days training before their next match against the St Kitts Patriots next Saturday at the Warner Park.
