The SIS Industrial Football League 2015 kicked off with a bang at Plipdeco Grounds in the heart of the Point Lisas Industrial Estate. This year's tournament showcases no less than 12 giants in the Industry. It started with a fabulous fun-filled opening day which highlighted a knockout tournament involving eleven of the twelve participating teams in a real carnival type atmosphere complete with a music truck and cheerleaders.
T&TEC emerged champions, but more importantly was the camaraderie enjoyed by everyone before the actual competition started. It set the mood for the upcoming weeks. After two weeks into the tournament, matches have been continuing as planned on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with the twelve teams, divided into two
Group A has T&TEC on top with three points from their two games. The other teams are a very closely knit bunch with only goal difference separating them as follows: National Energy; WASA; IPSL (AUM); SIS all on three points. Propping the table is Yara with just a solitary point. However with three more rounds to play before the quarterfinalist are determined, anything can happen.
Group B seems to be developing much more clear cut, leaders are Nu Iron with six points from their two games, followed by Arcelor Mittal (four points), Plipdeco (three points), PCS Nitrogen (two points), IPSL (MX) (one point) and bringing up the rear is the normally efficient NGC team. This year's tournament already has outstanding goal scorers such as WASA's Newell Redhead with five goals and Triffon Brown (Arcelor Mittal three goals ) as well as Nu Iron's Jayson Joseph (three goals), with star players on display such as T&TEC's Woodley "ShowTime" and others.
