Terrance Hinds lashed 81 as Lawbreakers stormed to the semifinals of the Big 8 Open Division with a 67-run win over La Familia De Cricket in the Partnership Constituency-Sponsored TYRO Sports Club Windball Cricket League in Santa Cruz on Sunday.
Hinds topscored in Lawbreakers' tally of 185 for eight in 15 overs with Riaf Ali (23) and Hanoman Moonsammy (22) also making useful contributions. Darren John did all he could to stem the flow of runs, picking up three for 14 in three overs. La Familia stumbled in their reply, creeping to 117 for eight despite the best efforts of Rashaad Harris (38).
In other quarterfinal matches, Kadeem Williams and Ryan Ramesray guided Drifters to a massive 108-run win over Fire Services to book a spot in the final four. Williams smashed 36 as Drifters racked up a hefty 186 for five batting first with Suraj Sanassi (28), Wendell Samuel (22) and Ramesray (19) also among the runs. Fire Services' reply was then undermined by Ramesray (2/9), Mitch Motiram (3/8) and Shakil Stewart (1/6), who bundled them out for 78 in 12.2 overs. Larry Charlandy offered the most resistance of the Fire Services batsmen, reaching 20, while Jevon Kennedy (11) also reached double figures.
Meanwhile in the Women's Big Four semifinals, Amanda Samaroo dominated the proceedings in Ball Players' 43-run win over Victors. Samaroo belted 85 to boost Ball Players to 147 for three batting first, finding support in Kiryina Alexander (32). She then grabbed two for 12 in three overs to help reduce victors to 104 for six. Antionette Morang also played an important role, taking two for 16, while Lauren Sakawat topscored with 31.
In this weekend's final, Ball Players will come up against Cricket Lovers, who were 29-run victors over Talk Nah in the other semifinal. That win was put together by Nathalie Ninah (30), Amy Holder (22 n.o.), and Jovanka Simon (2/4).
In the Over 45 semifinals, an unbeaten half century by Dane Baboolal took Drifters to a 60-run win over United Progressors. Baboolal's 54 not out anchored Drifters' total of 160 for four while Andy Ruiz (3/14) later helped limit Progressors to 100 for eight. Drifters are set to face X-Men in this weekend's final.
