The national Under-15 cricket team led by Leonardo Julien will face home team and defending champions Guyana at Bourda when the West Indies Cricket Board Regional U-15 50-over tournament begins today.
Julien is expected to lead from the front with his captaincy and batting, as he is the only surviving member from the 2013 team that won the title. Five players including Julien are returning from last year's team. The other players that represented the country at last year's regional tournament were Joshua James, Gereeb Louis, Brandon Singh and Avinash Mahabirsingh. James, Mahabirsingh, Matthew Patrick, Samir Ali and Nicholas Ali will lead the spin bowling attack as the slow wickets in Guyana is normally conducive to spin bowling.
The team will be coached by Glen Dwarika and managed by Anthony Ramjit. The round robin tournament, which also includes Windward Islands, Leeward Islands, Jamaica and Barbados, will conclude on July 30. In the other matches today, Jamaica will face Windward Islands at Guyana National Stadium and Barbados tackles Leeward Islands at Wales. All matches begin at 9.30 am.
