For the third time in the last four rounds of competition, wet conditions prevented the national U-15 cricketers from taking the field in the West Indies Cricket Regional U-15 tournament in Guyana, yesterday.
Not a ball was bowled in the match against the Leeward Islands due to a wet outfield at Bourda. T&T's first and second round matches against Guyana and Windward Islands were also abandoned due to rain. T&T defeated Jamaica in round three on Monday by nine wickets in the team's lone completed match of the tournament.
The Windward Islands moved closer to the title with a five-wicket win over Barbados. The result of the Guyana-Jamaica match was not available up to press time. The final round will take place tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the national Under-19 cricketers were in a tight battle with Jamaica up to press time in Jamaica.
After T&T scored 215 all out in 46.3 overs batting first at Manchester High School, the Jamaicans were 170/7 after 36 overs. Jyd Goolie top scored with 55 for T&T, while Kirstan Kallicharan and Cephas Cooper chipped in with 38 and 30, respectively. Oshane Thomas was the chief destroyer for Jamaica, grabbing 4/36. Odean Smith was also among the wickets taking 3/28.
At St Elizabeth Technical High School, Windward Islands defeated Barbados by five wickets. The Leeward Islands were 74/2 after 20 overs chasing 217 to win against Canada in a 42-over contest.
The penultimate round of the competition will bowl off tomorrow.
