The T&T Red Force Divas will be hoping for victory today, to advance to Sunday's final of the West Indies Women's Super50 Championships.
T&T will face a strong Barbadian team in the last round at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. T&T is now in second place on 12 points with two wins, one loss and one no result. A team earns four points for a win and an extra bonus point with a convincing win.
T&T had a disappointing performance in round four on Wednesday, which led to a 19-run defeat to defending champions Jamaica. It was an indisciplined effort by T&T, dropping numerous catches which allowed the Jamaicans to post a competitive 181/4 batting first.
The T&T batters also gave their wickets away as many of them were caught hitting in the air. Petite opener Felicia Walters again showed a lot of promise for T&T, top scoring with 40 but the home team was dismissed for 162 in 46.1 overs. T&T will be hoping for more contributions from the West Indies quartet of Merissa Aguilleira, Britney Cooper, Anisa Mohammed and Stacy Ann King as neither player has set the tournament alight.
Barbados leads the standings with 16 points with three wins, which includes a 32-run win over defending champions Jamaica in round one. A win today by the Shaquana Quintyne-led team will ensure Barbados qualifies for the final as the top team.
Third placed Jamaica has 11 points and is also eyeing a spot in the final. The best chance for Jamaica to advance to the final is a victory over Guyana and a Barbados win over T&T.
