Top riders are expected to compete when the Michael Phillips Republic Day Cycling Classic pedals off around the Nelson Mandela Park in St Clair, on September 24.
It will be a busy time for cyclists in T&T, as the Tobago International Cycling Classic takes place in Tobago from September 29 - October 4, followed by the Beacon Cycling on the Avenue Four on October 7 at Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.
Over $16,000 in cash prizes and premes will be available at the Michael Phillips Cycling Classic. Interested cyclists can visit the T&T Cycling Federation website at www.ttcyclingfederation.org. Registration, which closes on September 21 at midnight, will cost $60 for adults and $20 for children.
Barbadian cyclist Phillip Clarke representing T&T club Heatwave, captured the 30-lap main event last year with a late surge. Clarke has been in top form of late, winning the Toyota Hilux Cycling Classic on Sunday. Some of the T&T riders expected to compete are Varun Maharajh, Jovian Gomez, Adam Alexander, Joshua Alexander and Gevan Samuel.
