COMMERCE CITY, Colorado–T&T's defender Mekeil Williams has signed for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids from Guatemalan champions Antigua GFC, ahead of the new season which kicks off next month.
The 25-year-old has 11 caps for T&T and was a member of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League last year.
Williams started his professional career as an 18-year-old in the T&T Pro League for Ma Pau SC back in 2009 before moving on to giants W Connection two years later.He then had a short loan stint in Poland followed by eight appearances for FC Fyn in Denmark in 2012, before returning to W Connection for a second run.
Last summer, he joined Antigua GFC, making 20 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal."I'm very excited to be here. I've been looking forward to playing in the MLS for a while," Williams said.
"I've been following the league and there are a lot of top players coming to the league so I'm excited and I'm just ready to get going."
Rapids get their season underway on March 6 against San Jose Earthquakes.
