T&T's Ayana Dyette and first time playing partner, Canada-born Taija Thomas ended in ninth spot when the 2016 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit resumed with the seventh-leg at Canor Molson Sand Centre, North Bay, Canada on Sunday.
This after Dyette and Thomas were beaten in both their main draw matches on the weekend, first going under to USA's Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes, 8-21, 9-21 on Friday, and then a day later to Canada's Brandie Wilkerson and Julie Gordon, 13-21, 13-21 in Pool A.
Dyette was coming off representing T&T in the NORCECA Continental Cup Fourth Round Women's Olympic Qualifiers in Mexico, along with regular playing partner, Malika Davidson, Abby Blackman and Rheeza Grant.
For Thomas, it was a her debut NORCECA Tour event, after she combined with national youth team indoor captain Nicolette De Mille to represent T&T and the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championship earlier this year.
In Sunday's final, Hughes and Claes claimed gold over Gordon and Wilkerson 21-16, 21-13.The USA also won the bronze match, with Allison McColloch and Kelly Reeves defeating Meagan Nagy and Marie-Christine Lapointe by a decisive margin 21-10, 21-12.
Canada's Rachel Cockrell and Camille Saxton finished fifth overall; and Amanda Harnett and Kelsey Veltman, also of Canada, were sixth while US Virgin Islands and Guadeloupe were seventh and eight respectively.
T&T was not represented by any of its men's team in the tournament where USA's Marty Lorenz and Adam Roberts.beat Canada's Christian Redmann and Felipe Humana-Paredes in three sets 21-17, 15-21, 15-9 for gold
The bronze medal went to Canada's Mike Plantinga and Cam Wheelan, after beating Miles Evans and Spencer McLachlin of the USA, 21-16, 18-21, 15-9.
