It's is final! The third Test of the West Indies versus Pakistan series later this year will be played in Dubai and both boards have decided that it will take the format of day/night.
It was reported that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) had agreed that they will play one of the three Tests in the series that gets underway in September as a day/night affair.Guardian Media has been informed that it will be the third Test and the dates are now being finalised.
The West Indies cricket team has never played a day/night Test before and the players have limited experience in negotiating the pink ball.
The match should prove to be a challenge for the regional outfit and recently coach Phil Simmons mentioned that: "It's going to be hard for us because we have not played enough day night cricket down here to test the ball and to know what happens in the night.
"The players have told me it was good from a crowd point of view but a lot of them say that there are a number of things that need to be fixed."
At the board's last quarterly meeting it was mentioned that the third game in Dubai will see the West Indies tackle their first day/night Test and the team will have a matches in the UAE to get some practice with the pink ball.
It was further stated that the six professional teams in the Caribbean that play in the PCL, should entertain two such matches during the next season which gets underway in mid-November.
This is to allow the players the chance of more practice with the time and conditions of these matches.
The WICB is positioning themselves to play a day/night Test match in the Caribbean in 2017, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has mandated their full members to look into moving the longer format of the game to afternoon and night time in their respective countries.
