T&T's Hoerman's Cup team got a level par 72 from Liam Bryden on yesterday's final day of the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship in Bahamas to finish third overall.
Playing at the Ocean Club Course in Paradise Island, T&T entered the final day behind leaders Dominican Republic and second place Puerto Rico and gave a good display with Matthew Marquez following Bryden with two over par 74, while Wan Ju Lee had 76 and the pair of Talin Rajendranath and Clint Alfred sinking 77 on the day. However the usually consistent Sachin Kumar was unable to maintain the high standard of golf displayed over the first three days and instead finished the tournament with a disappointing 78 for a T&T total of 1162.
Dominican Republic sew up the win after last player on the course Juan Jose Guerra sank a 40 foot birdie to pip the Puerto Ricans by 1 stroke- 1132. The Puerto Ricans finished with a combined total of 1133 while Jamaica joined T&T in third with a 1162 total.
Meanwhile the T&T Women's team was again without Christina Ferreira, but Ysabelle Lawrence shot a 6 over par 78, Serena Mackenzie added an 81 with Karina Matabadal shooting an 83 for a fifth place finish. The title was won by Puerto Rico who had a total of 573 with the US Virgin Islands in second with 612. The Dominican Republic was third with 615.
