Curepe Sports inflicted the heaviest defeat of the Courts Inter Club T20 quarter-finals with a 155-run drubbing of Dinsley Village Cricket Club on Saturday at the National Cricket Club in Balmain, Couva.
Opening batsman David Adams cracked 111 off just 59 balls as Curepe rattled up 195 for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat.
And Curepe stamped their dominance on their fellow East Zone rivals by dismissing Dinsley for a paltry 51 in nine overs as Mark Gordon (four wickets for 17 runs), Rishi Rampersad (three for 14), and Marlon Bharath (two wickets for one run) effected a spectacular rout.
Adams hit nine boundaries and cleared the ropes seven times in an innings lasting 76 minutes, and got good support from fellow opening Clevon Frederick who made 34 off 37 balls with two boundaries. The pair were only separated with the score on 110 after 13.2 overs.
Curepe will now join North East Zone teams Unity and Biche Sports, and BFL of the Central Zone in the semi-finals of the $34,000 tournament which are scheduled for Saturday (August 6) in an eagerly anticipated day-night double-header at the NCC Ground at Balmain.
Earlier on Saturday, triple crowned Central Zone champions BFL defeated San Francique by 38 runs in a match reduced to 15 overs after being put into bat and racing to 145 for four wickets.
BFL opening pair of Sidel Diaz and Suruj Ragoonath demolished the San Francique bowling combining well for an entertaining 120-run partnership in 12.1 overs. Diaz was the more aggressive crashing 75 off 41 balls with six boundaries and four maximums, while former Test and national player Suruj Ragoonath made a run-a-ball 33.
In their turn at the crease, San Francique made a valiant but vain effort ending on 107 for eight wickets, with opening batsman Clint Deosaran making 23 with four boundaries, captain Kamchand Deosaran chipping in with 21 (two fours and a six) and Kiran Bhimull finishing undefeated with 25.
Sharing the wickets were Dylan Diaz (two for 15), while Akean Awong, Sidel Diaz, and Ragoonath claimed one apiece as BFL qualified for the last four stage of the tournament in convincing style.
