There is no certainty what the scenario could be by the end of tonight, but once T&T pull off the result against Guatemala that will secure their passage into the Concacaf Final Round of World Cup qualification and the United States does the same, then Jurgen Klinsmann could change his approach in next Tuesday's affair in Jacksonville.
This was the indication made by the German a couple of days as he looked ahead to the match.
"Bringing in a little bit of a bigger group gives us opportunity, depending on what happens in the first game and also paralleled in the T&T against Guatemala game, that we might be able to change certain things for the second game, but the priority is the group that played in Copa America," Klinsmann said.
He pointed out that: "They need to get the job done in St Vincent, and then see how we can modify little things. It also gives us a chance during a couple of days to work with a couple extra guys - younger guys - that we've had an eye on since quite a while, like Caleb Stanko or Rubio Rubin.
They are players that are knocking at the door and are doing well in their club environment, so that's nice to see them. Then we have the situation with the suspended players - Michael Bradley and Michael Orozco - and they are not eligible for the first game. Jermaine Jones is still struggling with his knee injury, so we will take it one day at a time with him. So having a couple extra guys is a good thing. We are going to go with only 23 players down to St Vincent, so a few will stay behind. Hopefully we get the job done down there and then we can adjust for the second game."
T&T international Kevin Molino says being rated as the number-one right winger in American Major League Soccer (MLS) this season on the Audi Player Index is very encouraging.Molino received a score of 567 votes ahead of Shkelzen Gashi of Colorado Rapids (543) and Mexican Giovani dos Santos (497).
"It's a great feeling yes but it's down to hard work and the season isn't over yet. As a professional player you always strive to get better and for me coming back from the injury and receive this rating is a mental boost. Hopefully I can turn it into better things for my club and myself," Molino said.
"The focus now though is the national team and I will definitely be looking to switch on and take it up a notch when I step on the field tomorrow (today versus Guatemala) and against the US next Tuesday."
