National chess champion Della-Marie Walcott, who fell into a coma in early January of this year, following brain surgery, has been brought home by her parents, after almost eight months of hospitalisation.
While Della-Marie still remains in a comatose state, she was discharged by her doctors and allowed to return home, where she will continue to receive private nursing and home care. The journey has been a long and arduous one for the Walcott family.
Her parents, Dominic and Debra, have remained strong in their faith and wish to express their sincerest gratitude to the hundreds of individuals who offered prayers and comfort during this very difficult time.
They are also eternally grateful to the Government, corporate entities, friends, family and many caring citizens, who provided financial assistance for the 15-year old's medical expenses.
Their gratitude also extends to the staff at both the St Clair Medical Centre and Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, for the care and attention given to Walcott over the past eight months.
The Walcott's indicated that the tremendous support of family and close friends during this time greatly helped in strengthening their faith, as they continue to pray for their young daughter's recovery. They have requested that she be remembered by all well-wishers in their prayers.
An account in the name of "Friends of Della Marie Walcott' was opened at Republic Bank Ltd (A/C # 180801224831) and anyone wishing to further assist with her ongoing medical expenses, can do so.
