Newly-crowned North Zone Secondary Schools Football League Coca-Cola Inter-Col champions, Trinity College of Moka, will be hoping to continue its fairy-tale run when it faces San Juan North in the National semifinal at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, from 4.15 pm this afternoon.
Five days ago at the same venue, Trinity Moka stunned defending zonal champion and last year's National runner-up, St Anthony's College 6-5 on sudden-death penalty-kicks after a 1-1 draw, to lift its first crown since 1980.
San Juan North on the other hand, came from behind to defeat long-time rival, St Augustine Secondary, 2-1, in the East Zone final at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, led by a double from national Under-17 midfielder Brandon Semper, and will today look to the diminutive playmaker to rise to the occasion once more. At stake for the winner is a spot in the national final on December 6.
Also on today, is the lone national quarterfinal between Signal Hill Secondary and Carapichaima East Secondary at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, from 3.30 pm, with the winner set to face South Zone champion and Premier Division runner-up Presentation College of San Fernando in the other semifinal on Friday at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, from 3.30 pm.
Signal Hill captured the Tobago Zone Inter-Col with a 6-5 sudden-death penalty-kicks win over Speyside after a 0-0 deadlock at the end of regulation-time, while Carapichaima East trashed Gasparillo Secondary 5-0 in the Central Zone final.
