T&T's France-based father and step-daughter pairing of Dexter St Louis and Rheann Chung won their seventh mixed doubles title in tournament history when the 55th Caribbean Regional Table-Tennis Federation Championship continued at the Beausejour Indoor Sports Arena, Beausejour, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Thursday night.The T&T pair which had to settle for bronze last year in Dominican Republic made amends by beating Dominican Republic's Juan Vila and Eva Britto 13-11, 13-11, 9-11, 11-2 in the gold medal contest to reclaim the title they last won in 2011.In the final-four match-up, Chung and St Louis also tangled with another Dominican Republic pairing, in Emil Santos and Lineth Vila and secured an 11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 11-5 victory while Vila and Britto ousted Mark Dowell and Sherrice Felix in a tense five-setter, 12-10, 7-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9.
When the competition served off Chung who led the T&T women to a fourth team title in history on Wednesday night (2004, 2008, 2009 and 2013), and St Louis were handed a round-one bye before they thrashed Martinique's Samuel De Lepine and Corinne Pharose 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 and Guyana's Edinho Lewis and Chelsea Edghill 11-7, 11-2, 11-3.T&T's Curtis Humphreys and ten-times national champion Aleena Edwards got as far as the last-16 when they punished St Vincent and The Grenadines' Damion Dublin and Nastha Shortte 11-4, 11-6, 11-8, but were then beaten by Dominican Republic's Samuel Galvez and Yasiris Ortiz 11-6, 3-11, 11-8, 2-11, 10-12 for a place in the last-eight.Another local entrant, Arun Roopnarine and Jasher De Gannes also started well, beating St Lucians, Adrian Glace and Charmaine Polius 11-4, 11-5, 11-8, however, they then loss to a Guyana pairing, 13-11, 8-11, 4-11, 11-13.

In the women's doubles, Chung and 11-year-old Caribbean Under-13 champion Jasher De Gannes, who was also part of the victorious women's team came up short in the final, 6-11, 12-14, 7-11 to Guyanese duo, Trenace Lowe and Chelsea Edghill.Chung and De Gannes reached the final via their 10-12, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7 victory over Dominican Republic's Yasiris Ortiz and Kircia Diaz while Lowe and Edghill overcame Guadeloupe's Corrine Vaillant and Manoelle Gamon 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-2.Earlier on Chung and De Gannes received a bye in the round-of-16 before stopping Guyana's Akeisha Nedd and Natalie Cummings 10-12. 11-7, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7 in the quarterfinals while fellow T&T pair Aleena Edwards and Linda Partap-Boodan was ousted at the first hurdle, 4-11, 7-11, 11-7, 2-11 by Vaillant and Gamon.
...Men get two doubles bronze
The men's doubles teams of Alaric Humphreys and Arun Roopnarine and St Louis and Curtis Humphreys had to settle for bronze medals after losing to Dominican Republic pairings in the semifinals.The younger of the Humphreys', Alaric and Roopnarine fell to Juan Vila and Emil Santos 8-11, 9-11, 6-11 while Samuel Galves and Isaac Vila accounted for St Louis and Curtis, 6-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8.Both T&T teams were given round-of-32 byes after which Roopnarine and Alaric had a walkover win against French Guiana's Stephane Figaro and Christian Kanamma and then an upset of Barbadians Kevin Farley and Trevor Farley, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9 before their semis loss.St Louis and Humphreys made full use of their first round bye by crushing St Vincent and The Grenadines' Kavir Gaymes and Damion Dublin 11-2, 11-7, 11-6 then Guyana's Joel Alleyne and Edinho Lewis 11-5, 11-3, 11-6.Last night the Under-21 and veterans singles tournament were expected to conclude while the men and women singles competition serve off today with Chung going after a sixth title and St Louis, a fifth.
