The Moosai women will aim to continue its dominance in local women's cricket when the T&T Women's Cricket Association (TTWCA) 50-over league bowls off today with matches in the premiership and championship divisions.
In previous years, 40 overs per innings were played, but the committee of the T&T Women's Cricket Association has decided to play 50 overs per innings to get the players prepared for the West Indies Cricket Board Regional 50-over tournament later this year.
In the championship (second) division, UWI, Preysal Achievers, Players Sports Club, West Side Giants and South West United will battle for the title. In the premiership (first) division, Hibiscus Ladies, Technocrats, Jus Rangers, Preysal Phoenix, Cricket Lovers and Moosai will feature.
Moosai has won the last three premiership league titles. Last year Jodi Ann Morgan struck 87 to lead Moosai to the crown in the penultimate round, propelling the team to a 135-run win over Cricket Lovers. Moosai will open its title defence against Hibiscus Ladies at the El Dorado West Secondary School ground. In the other premiership matches Technocrats will play Jus Rangers at Munroe Road Recreation Ground, while Preysal Phoenix faces Cricket Lovers at Gilbert Park in California.
All matches bowl off at 11 am.
