Willis Plaza and captain Marvin Oliver both got second-half goals as Adam’s Construction Ltd San Juan Jabloteh blanked W Connection 2-0 to move into a three-way lead at the top of the eight-team Digicel T&T Pro League table on Friday night. Playing in the feature match of a “Super Friday” double header at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, their first since the two-week break for the Christmas holidays, both Jabloteh and W Connection took a while to settle and were deadlocked at 0-0 at the end of the first half. However, ten minutes after the restart Jabloteh went ahead via in-form striker Plaza and in the 64th minute Oliver doubled the lead which his team held until the final whistle. They now join W Connection and T&TEC in a three-way lead at the top with 15 points each. It was the second time this season Jabloteh had secured a 2-0 win over its bitter rival in the League, while W Connection had a 4-2 triumph in the Toyota Classic Cup semifinal.

Earlier on in the night’s first match, T&TEC, which leads the table via a better goal-difference than Jabloteh and W Connection, was denied a chance to reclaim sole possession of top spot after being held to a 1-1 draw by a determined St Ann’s Rangers. The “Electricity Boys” looked well set to take all three points following December transfer window pick-up Kerry Baptiste’s 68th minute go-ahead item. Baptiste beat goalkeeper Shane Mattis from a Sylvester Teesdale pass inside the area. But two minutes into time added-on Devon Modeste snatched an equaliser for Rangers from the penalty spot past goalkeeper Marvin Phillip. This after referee Rodphin Harris awarded Rangers the penalty when Modeste went down inside the area under a challenge from defender Kern Peters, leaving T&TEC coach Dexter Cyrus and his charges in total disagreement. Last night, fourth-placed Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA (12), recent winner of the 22nd Kashif & Shanghai Football Tournament in Guyana, had a chance to join the trio at the top with a win over Police at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, while DirecTV North East Stars met defending champion, and winless, Defence Force at Malabar.
