T&T's miserable tournament continued yesterday in the West Indies Cricket Board Regional Under-19 50-over competition, falling to their third defeat in round five action at Enmore, Guyana.
T&T's only victory came against the ICC Americas in round one. T&T struggled again with the bat yesterday against the Windward Islands posting 149/9 in 50 overs. T&T captain Jeremy Solozano top scored with 28, while Tevon Jadoo and Anderson Phillip pitched in with 21 not out and 17 respectively. Gidron Pope was the chief destroyer grabbing 4/23 in 10 overs. Sherman Lewis also caused some problems for T&T taking 2/33.
The T&T lower order offered some resistance as T&T was 96/8 at one stage. Windward Islands got off to a bumpy start, reduced to 30/4 in the twelfth over. The Windwards fought back to leave the match evenly poised as they got to 73/5 after 25 overs. However, three quick wickets gave T&T the upper hand as the Windwards went from 104/5 to 110/8.
Lewis (26 not out) and Deron Hypolite (13 not out) took the Windward Islands over the line getting to 150/8 in 48.2 overs to win by two wickets. Samuel Roopnarine (3/36) and Akil Seetal (3/31) both snatched three wickets for T&T.
