Mohammed, Watson put table tennis titles on the line

Saleem Mohammed and two-time winner Ambica Watson are expected to defend the Men and Women’s Singles titles when the third annual Caroni Zone T&T Table Tennis Association (T&TTTA) serves off its third annual Zonal Tournament on Saturday. The event will be staged at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena (CRISA), Chaguanas, and sponsored by Low Cost Supermarket, located in Cunupia. National player Dayna Samaroo, last year’s Open Gender title winner will also be defending her title. Other national players Shannon Watson, Renuka Sitram and Gyshan Latchman will also take part, adding to the strength of the tournament. The event will run from 8 am to 5 pm. 
 
There are categories in the Under-10 Open Gender, Under-15 Novice Boys, Under-15 Novice Girls, Under-15 Singles Boys, Under-15 Singles Girls, Under-21 Singles Boys and Under-21 Singles Girls. Two divisions (A and B) in Men’s Singles will be competed as well as a Women’s Singles 21-and-Over category. The Men’s A division winner will receive $500 and a trophy for a first place finish, followed by $300 and a trophy for a secnd place finish. The Men’s B division winner will receive $350 and a trophy, while the Women’s winner will receive $200 and a trophy. The Open Gender (three person team) winner will  take $300 and a trophy. Registration costs are: $30 (Open Gender team), $25 Men’s A Division Singles and $20 for both the Men’s B Division Singles and the Women’s Division Singles.
