Newly-elected United National Congress (UNC) Councillor for Munroe Road/Caroni Savannah, Adrian Ali will now be in search of runs and not votes, as he positions himself to get into the T&T Red Force team for the upcoming Regional Super50 cricket tournament.
Ali, a wicketkeeper/batsman has been one of the standout players in domestic cricket over the past few years and has time and time again returned very good performances at the national trials. Last year, playing for First Citizens Clarke Road United, Ali, made 401 runs in the league at an average of 44.5 scoring a century and three fifties. He was also in good form in the 50-overs making 262 runs at 52.2 with a century and a half century.
Speaking to Guardian, Ali said he would love to get the opportunity to represent the Red Force at the regional level. "I have been around the cricket for quite a while, playing against all the top players locally and even at the trials. My form has been good and I stand ready to represent the Red force if given the opportunity at the upcoming super50 tournament."
On his political career,"I am new to the politics, but I am committed to serving the nation to the best of my ability. I have already told my constituents that given the resources that are available to me, I am going to do my best to ensure that all benefit from brighter and better community programmes. I am about country and this is why I always jump at any opportunity to do something positive, be it sports or politics."
