It was only the opening round in the Premiership Division of the All Sectors Netball League but the match up between Fire and Police on Saturday was so intense that a winner could not be decided.
The match, which was played at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua, ended tied 41-41, resulting with both teams going away with one point each.
Fire goal-shooter Jameela McCarthy led all scorers with 31 goals off 43 attempts in a match which the police officers held the advantage for much of the match, leading 11-8 at the end of the first session, 23-17 at half time and 32-28 in the third period.
This was thanks to the effort of goal-shooter Tahirah Hollingsworth, who netted 24 of 40 goals, and national standout Joelisa Cooper 17 in 23.
Fire used three shooters in the affair, Nariba Grant (7/14) who was substituted in for Aquila Blugh in the goal-attack position. She connected three of eight.
The earlier match in the division saw the University of T&T (UTT) come away with a narrow three-goal (25-22) over debutants to the Premiership, the University of the West Indies (UWI).
Former national shooter Anastasia Wilson led the way with 15 of 20 for the winner with goal-attack Kernesha Greenidge adding eight in 13 before she was replaced by Lilah Matthews, who put in two off four tries.
In the Championship Division triple-header, Bermudez, Police and the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) teams recorded victories.
Bermudez topped Jabloteh, 45-30, Police whipped TSTT, 45-27, and UTC beat Las Lomas, 35-28.
